March Update

3/20/2019

The last few months have been filled with opportunities to minister to students and families as well as preparations for next year as well. We are looking forward to seeing our family, friends, and supporters back in the US this summer as well. Some highlights from the last few months...
  • We began a home fellowship on Saturday evenings. We are enjoying our time singing, praying, and studying together as families and are praying about ways to invited others in our community. (January)
  • Kite Day at OCSI offered opportunities for families to come on campus, observe their child's classroom, and fly kites together (a Japanese tradition in January).
  • Andy continues to teach English and Bible to the local preschool and was able to share gifts with them at their graduation ceremony this month. (February)
  • Andy led and coordinated the OCSI Service Week for grades 6-12. Students went to over 10 different locations across the island to serve the community... nursing homes, homeless shelters, special needs facilities, beach clean up, churches, the zoo, and also offered a VBS type program for the elementary students. One group of students also went to the Philippines for a mission trip. If you'd like to see more about this amazing week, see the video here. (February)
  • Andy and Megan are both getting ready for next year by attending some trainings and professional development opportunities. Andy was able to attend the Child Safety & Protection Network training in Tokyo and Megan will attend the same training next month in Prague. Megan is also exploring some Social-Emotional Learning opportunities in Taiwan and Tokyo this month to prepare for her transition to Head of School next year. (March/April)
  • Andy was able to meet up with several of our friends in Tokyo (former neighbors and students) with opportunities to share the gospel with each. (February)
  • OCSI continues to grow and improve; please continue to pray for the school and our ability to share the gospel with students and families while providing a high quality education that prepares students for college and life. (March)
  • The girls continue to do well in school and spend most of their free time doing crafts or jumping on the trampoline. They are looking forward to spending some time in the US this summer.
