Family Update... We've been enjoying slightly cooler temperatures and a great start to the new school year at OCSI; Mia is in 5th grade, Naomi in 3rd, and Eliya in 1st. Andy continues to stay busy during the week as chaplain and Bible teacher at school, preaching some at Japanese churches on the weekends, and training for his next half marathon. Megan is adjusting to her new role as elementary principal and although has been quite busy so far this year has enjoyed finding times to go out hiking or out to the beach.
Elementary Camp... Megan led the 4th and 5th grade students and teachers on a 3 day camp. Although there weren't any tents and we all had warm showers at night, we still called it camp. It was a great time of Bible study with the kids and included exciting adventures in the woods hiking, s'mores and singing by a campfire, and an obstacle course. It's a unique opportunity to provide that church camp experience for our students here in Okinawa. The theme this year centered on God as our Creator! Want to see more, check out the video. Two students, a 4th and 5th grader, prayed to receive Christ as their Savior for the first time.
Parent Bible Studies... This month Andy and Megan both began their parent Bible studies at the school. Andy's study will focus on teaching parents the stories and themes from the Bible that their children are learning at school. Megan's study uses the bilingual book "Discovering the Joy of Parenting" which explores parenting from a Biblical perspective. We have been amazed at the interest and engagement in these times, please continue to pray for more opportunities to reach the parents and families of our students for Christ.
