December Update

Have you ever wondered what it's like in Japan during the Christmas and New Years holidays? A couple of fun facts...

• Christmas is mostly celebrated like Valentine's Day, as a romantic holiday for couples. Children go to school and parents go to work. However, Christmas songs play in all the stores and Christmas lights decorate all of the local hotels/resorts. Many families will eat KFC to celebrate!
• New Years is the big holiday in Japan... New Year's Eve means family  time eating and watching television. At midnight, they eat soba noodles for "long life". 

We were blessed this year to be able to celebrate Christmas with the students and families at school through several Christmas concerts. We also enjoyed time with family who came to visit and are enjoying the extra time at home with our girls- ice skating, hiking, and making cookies.
