September Update

Class is in session here at Okinawa Christian School International!  

Every week Andy prepares and leads 3 chapel services for the elementary students- one for  K3-K5, one for grades 1-2, and one for grades 3-5. He has also been teaching the 12th grade Bible class each day- this month has focused on the topic of morality and ethics. Helping students to understand the difference between absolute truth and moral relativism and the impact that either of those beliefs has on their life and faith. 

​Megan has been teaching the 12th grade Government students about the origins of American democracy and they have been doing close readings of primary source documents such as Petition of Rights, Magna Carta, Common Sense, and others. In 11th grade US History her students just finished creating TV commercials that advertise the various colonies as if they were a travel agent in the year 1700. Her 12th grade homeroom is also busy planning their senior service trip to Taiwan.

​Upcoming Dates

• Mia will be increasing her gymnastics to 2x/week in hopes of joining the competitive class from next year.
• Naomi turned 8 this month and we had a stuffed animal birthday party at our house for all 9 girls from her class.
• Eliya is learning how to read and write in English at school and has adjusted very well to her new school and friends.

• This month we had the blessing of being visited by the VP of Team Expansion and his wife- Eric and Chris Barry.
• Prayers for wisdom as Andy and I work at the school and do our best to meet students where they are bring them closer to Jesus.
• Prayers for the Elementary and High School camps coming up- safety for students and teachers and spiritual growth for students.
• Thursday night community group at our home is studying Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis) and spending time praying together.
